Resident Report: Phil Ge 11/26/13

Phillip Ge presented an excellent case of Sjogren’s disease yesterday, complicated by cirrhosis and variceal bleed. Please see his excellent presentation, especially some of his slides on management of variceal bleed that we didn’t have time to discuss!

Key take away points:
  • Sjogren’s has a wide spectrum of neurological symptoms, including mononeuritis  multiplex
  • Treatment for Sjogren’s is symptomatic, unless there are extraglandular manifestations
    • Steroids
    • Cyclophosphamide
    • Rituxan (rituximab)
    • Epratuzumab (anti-CD22 mAb)
